Latest Updates notified on RRB NTPC Exam Dates

Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) is the custodian of railway exams. RRB plans to recruit 35208 people for its various non-technical popular category posts like junior clerk, typist, goods train guard, senior clerk etc. This is the golden opportunity for aspirants who wish to secure a government job in the railways.

Important RRB NTPC Exam Dates

RRB NTPC notification was released last February. At first, it was scheduled to be held between June to September 2019. However, it has been postponed as per the latest RRB notification. It is expected that CBT 1 will be held between March-April 2020. Given below is the list of important dates pertaining to RRB NTPC.

RRB NTPC online application began on 1st March 2019 and got over on 31st March 2019. No further applications are accepted. The admit card for the exam is yet to be released.

RRB NTPC Vacancies

RRB has advertised 35208 vacancies for filling up different posts in NTPC category. These posts include junior clerk, typist, senior clerk, goods train guard, ticket collector, timekeeper, etc.
Previously RRB planned to recruit 35277 people but the number of vacancies has been revised after deduction of RRB Allahabad vacancies. The DLW vacancies in the Allahabad zone has been scrapped totally. The number of vacancies in the Allahabad zone has also been decreased from 4099 to 4030.
Candidates need to have at least a 12th pass certificate to apply in the undergraduate posts while a graduation certificate from a recognized varsity will do the job for a graduate post applicant.
The age limit for the applicants in the undergraduate posts is between 18 to 30 years and those for the graduate posts is between 18 to 33 years as of 1st July 2019. However, in both cases, there is age relaxation for different castes and other special categories like ex-servicemen, etc.

RRB NTPC Fee Structure

RRB has a standard fee structure for appearance in the Railways exam. In case of women, the entire fee is refunded upon conduction of CBT 1 exam while in the others a part of it is refunded after the exam. The detailed fee structure is given below in a tabular form:

RRB NTPC Exam Selection Procedure

After the release of RRB NTPC Exam Dates, there will be five levels of examination. They are:

  • CBT 1

This is a completely computerized test consisting of 3 sections which are Mathematics, Reasoning and Aptitude and Mathematics. Below is the tabular representation of the exam pattern:

The minimum qualification is 40% for UR and EWS category and OBC and SC 30% while ST 25%. Negative marking of 1/3 rd for each incorrect answer is there. 

  • CBT 2

This round is also a computer-based round consisting of the same 3 sections as CBT 1. Only the difference will be the number of questions and marks along with the difficulty level. The break-up is as follows:

The minimum qualification criteria and the negative marking is the same as CBT 1.

  • Typing Test

This test is to test the speed and accuracy of a candidate in writing on a computer. 8 times the vacancy advertised will be called for this test. Candidates will have to produce 30 WPM in English and 25 WPM in Hindi.

  • Document Verification

This round is to check the originality of the candidate’s candidature and whether one has any criminal records in the past.

  • Medical Examination

This test is sometimes conducted after getting the job. However, if a candidate fails to obtain a predefined standard set he may be rejected from the post. This test is used to check the endurance and physical fitness of a candidate.

Candidates need to give one thing in mind that each and every round till Typing Test is elimination rounds. The cut-off set by the RRB authority depending upon the level of questions and the number of students who appeared for the exam.
