BBC Strictly Come Dancing’s Dianne Buswell ‘gutted’ over ‘risky’ Bobby Brazier move

Strictly Come Dancing's Dianne Buswell was left 'gutted' after her dance with Bobby Brazier didn't go as planned on Saturday night.

The pair paid tribute to the classic film Dirty Dancing in their routine for Musicals Week, but struggled to pull off the iconic lift.

Despite mostly positive feedback, judge Craig Revel Horwood pointed out they failed to execute the move correctly. He said: "The lift unfortunately failed in my eyes and the reason it failed is because you weren't far enough down on her hip to keep her up."

After giving his critique, he added it had been one of their 'strongest performances to date'. They scored 34 points from the four judges, as first reported by the Mirror.

Earlier, Dianne shared that Bobby had nailed the lift during their practice but was disappointed when it didn't go as planned on the live show.

She posted on social media: "Gutted the LIFT didn't go to plan like it had in most rehearsals. But I do have to say we took a risk and didn't play it safe that dance was hard and so iconic that of course there was pressure to do it justice. And the feeling of just not quite getting it was a bit low for us."

She continued: "HOWEVER Bobby wanted to challenge himself and so did I. Let's focus on the amazing parts of the dance, the fact Bobby was leading me around the floor, his hips, footwork, expression and just overall improvement for a guy who started dancing only 11 weeks ago is incredible!

"Your strength your movement has improved so so much and I'm sure so many people agree. We are so excited and grateful to be dancing in the semi-finals next week. But I also send my love to Nigel and Katya who have been incredible this whole competition."

Some fans thought Dianne and Bobby should've scored more than 34 points while others said their performance was still ' amazing.'

One fan commented: "It's doesn't matter at all there were enough nods to that amazing film and dance it was amazing." Another added: "Bobby and you have my vote."

A third person said: "Diane I loved this dance, dirty dancing is my favourite movie and you and Bobby looked like you belong in the movie, an absolute treat on a Saturday night. Well done."

The Strictly duo were one of the few remaining dance couples who took to the ballroom dance for the quarter-finals week.

Sadly, actor Nigel Harman had to pull out of Saturday's show after sustaining an injury. However, the actor later made an appearance in the studio.

Nigel's shock exit from the competition means that no celebrities will leave the competition this weekend and there will not be a public vote. However, the judge's scores will count towards next week's performances.
