Amy Dowden shares update on her cancer treatment
Amy Dowden has revealed she’s been left in “limbo” as she faces a setback in her cancer journey.
The 33-year-old BBC star told her 594,000 followers on Instagram that she was scheduled for her next round of chemotherapy, but that it now might have to be rescheduled.
Speaking on her stories, the Strictly Come Dancing star explained: “My platelets are too low currently for chemo which is really frustrating because I feel really well.
“But my doctor said ‘come on in on Thursday morning and let’s see if the improve’, otherwise my chemo will have to be delayed by a week which honestly I don’t really want because I just want to get this over and done with.
“But at the same time obviously they can’t risk giving me chemo. So I’m in limbo really, it’s weird because I’m preparing myself that I’m having chemo but I might not have chemo,” the Welsh-Native expressed.

The professional dancer went on to explain that she had mentally psyched herself up for the gruelling treatment and will be “gutted” if she’s unable to go through with it.
She continued: “I think I’ve gone through the hardest part now, losing my hair and everything like that, accepting that I’ve not been able to take part in Strictly this year.”
Amy said she’s grateful for the treatment as it means she’ll hopefully be able to have many more Halloween’s and seasons of Strictly Come Dancing under her belt.
The BBC One star was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in the spring.

As a result of her diagnosis, she announced earlier this year that she wouldn’t be competing with a celebrity on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.
She recently credited the show, as well as her former dance partner Tom Fletcher and his wife Giovanna for helping save her life.
Amy met Tom, 38, and his wife Giovanna when the pair were partnered on Strictly for the 19th series in 2021.
Amy said she went on a trek with Giovanna, 38, and after being told breast cancer stories by other women, she decided to check her own breasts and that’s when she found her lump.
