The seller began the bidding with £1 on November 11 before it shot up to a tenner in a matter of a few minutes. Two days later and it already secured a bid of £101.
In seven days, the coin racked up multiple bids from 16 different people who wanted to get their claws on the coin. Its total reached £140 with a £3.99 Standard Delivery fee.
The epic bidding war finally finished on November 18. We're sure the seller was happy as the coin sold for 280 times its face value.
When it comes to coins, the Kew Gardens 50p is highly popular among Brits. Only 210,000 of these coins ever made it into circulation since its release date back in 2009.
