A bunch of abandoned toilets are set to go under the hammer as an "alternative way onto the property ladder".
The auction, happening in Cornwall just before Christmas, will also feature several empty commercial buildings, as the UK's population struggles to find affordable homes. An old loo block in Newquay town centre, not far from Towan Beach, is up for sale. The starting price is £50,000 and it comes with some land too . . . but requires rather a lot of work to make it habitable for humans.
A spokesman, describing the state of the loo, said: "In a poor state of repair and comprising separate ladies, gents and disabled/baby changing facilities, any alternative use of the toilet block would be subject to all necessary consents being obtainable.

"The land, which forms part of the auction lot and is located above the toilet block, is part occupied by two retail units – both sold on 998-year leases – and subject to a number of bin licenses."
Also up for grabs are three empty commercial properties in Camborne, including a four-storey, mid-terrace building in the town centre. Katie Semmens, senior auction appraiser at Clive Emson Auctioneers, said: "The property requires a course of improvement works throughout and offers potential for various development schemes, particularly of the upper floors, subject to all necessary consents being obtainable."
On the same street, a three-storey house is up for grabs at a starting price of £50,000. It needs a bit of TLC though. A big property on Cross Street, last used by a law firm, also needs some work done and has a guide price of £95,000 to £105,000. The plan is to turn it into two homes.
A detached five-bedroom bungalow in Camborne is up for auction with a starting price of £145,000.
The auction, run by Clime Emsen Auctioneers, has 149 lots up for grabs. There are 59 empty homes, 37 investments, 26 commercial properties, 14 developments and 13 plots of land. The auction ends on December 13, but you can start bidding 48 hours before.
