- Dr Wahid Shaida, 55, was exposed as leader of extremist group Hizb ut-Tahrir
- The group called for jihad against Israel on the streets of London last month
- Dr Shaida praised Hamas terrorists as ‘brave mujahideen’ after October attacks
A GP who was exposed by the Mail on Sunday as the firebrand leader of an Islamic extremist group is being investigated by the General Medical Council, it has emerged.
Dr Wahid Shaida, 55, is the leader of Hizb ut-Tahrir (HT), which called for jihad against Israel on the streets of London last month, sparking a national outrage.
The medic, who uses the name Abdul Wahid as leader of HT, gloated over the Hamas terror attack on October 7th, which left over 1400 Israeli victims dead.
Days after the attack, in an online speech, Dr Shaida praised the Hamas terrorists as ‘brave mujahideen’ who gave the enemy ‘a very welcome punch on the nose.’
His HT group held a rally outside the Egyptian embassy in London last month, where one of the speakers said: ‘What is the solution to liberate people in the concentration camp called Palestine?’
Dr Wahid Shaida, aka Abdul Wahid, pictured, who celebrated the barbaric Hamas terror attacks that slaughtered 1,400 Jewish men is now being investigated by the General Medical Council
Dr Shaida, a well-spoken, public school educated GP, works at a surgery on Welbeck Road in Harrow, North-West London, where he has been a doctor for over 20 years
Hizb ut-Tahrir caused outrage when members chanted ‘jihad’ during a rally outside the Egyptian and Turkish embassies in London and called for ‘Muslim armies’ to attack Israel
The crowd shouted back: ‘Jihad! Jihad! Jihad!’
Dr Shaida said at the rally: ‘Victory is coming and everyone has to choose a side.’
The protest led to widespread anger, and a spat between Home Secretary Suella Braverman and the Metropolitan Police Commissioner, on why his officers did not make arrests on the day.

Last week, we revealed that Dr Shaida, a well-spoken, public school educated GP, works at a surgery on Welbeck Road in Harrow, North-West London, where he has been a doctor for over 20 years.
His patients were unaware of his other identity as Abdul Wahid, the UK head of HT.
The GMC received a number of complaints from members of the public last week, some asking whether Dr Shaida will be able to treat Jewish and gay patients correctly, since his organisation has a track record of anti-Semitism and homophobia.
One complainant, who does not want to be named, said: ‘This man is publicly calling for the death of all Israeli people whilst practising at a GP.
‘He cannot be allowed to treat Jewish or Israeli people nor anyone in my mind.’
The GMC has written back to the complainant saying the organisation will now consider whether to launch a ‘fitness to practise’ investigation into Dr Shaida.
Once the investigation is complete, Dr Shaida could be given a warning, or referred to a formal inquiry by a tribunal.
Last night, the GMC said in a statement: ‘We are aware of the concerns that have been raised.
‘However, we are not able to provide information about complaints or concerns unless the matter has been referred to a full hearing at the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS)
‘We can and will investigate serious concerns that suggest patient safety or the public’s confidence in doctors may be at risk and will take action where it is necessary.’
Dr Shaida could not be reached for comment.
