Katherine Ryan admits teenage daughter finds her and partner ‘gross’ in new chat

Katherine Ryan, 40, has been returning to work in recent months following giving birth to her nine-month-old daughter in December last year.

The stand-up comedian also shares a son, born June 2021 with her husband Bobby Koostra, as well as her daughter Violet, 14, from a previous relationship.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, Katherine was asked why her relationship with Bobby works so well, having reunited in 2018, after being childhood sweethearts.

While sharing her secret, she also admitted that her teenage daughter Violet can find their relationship “gross” at times.

She explained: “Well Bobby’s just my favourite person so that makes it easy! But in all honesty, I think the key to every relationship is communication right?

“My daughter thinks we’re gross but we do make time for each other where we can, whether it be date night or having dinner on the sofa with our favourite show on when everyone’s in bed.”

Express.co.uk also asked Katherine how she is doing juggling her career and a little baby, admitting it’s all just “beautiful chaos”.

She added: “It’s a beautiful chaos! Balancing family life and my career is definitely challenging, but it’s

all about finding that balance that works for you.

“I have an incredible support system that allows me to pursue my career while being a present and loving mom.”

However, this does stop Katherine from sometimes feeling guilty when one part of her life is prioritised.

She continued: “I always want to be an example for my children, especially Violet as she’s at this age

where she’s surrounded by social media.

“But I’ve learned that it’s essential to prioritise self-care and remember that I’m setting an example for them by pursuing my passions.”

Katherine is currently partnered with Gousto for their new campaign, The Dinner show, which sees you make dishes inspired by your favourtie film or TV show at home.

Speaking about her involvement, she said: “I’m absolutely obsessed with Gousto, I’ve been cooking with them for years and years, so any chance I get to work with them I jump at, but when they mentioned this latest recipe range I couldn’t wait to try.

“I love TV and showbiz, and being able to cook all the delicious meals I crave when watching my favorite shows is so fun – it’s exactly what The Dinner Show is all about.

“Gousto has even created The Dinner Show hub (a celebration of iconic moments from TV and films) where you can find all the recipes inspired by your favourite TV shows and movies!”
